Martin's career spans over thirty years as Chief Photographer and Director of Photography with PBS KVIE, Photojournalist with ABC, CBS, and NBC affiliates, Commercial Photographer, and Fine Art Photographer. His work with PBS KVIE has won five EMMY Awards, while earning twenty nominations.
My artistic path began in 1990 when I inherited my father's Minolta camera. From that moment on, I have indulged an obsession with documenting reality. To me, photography should hint at a story, or contain an air of mystery.
Martin’s photojournalism background results in intimate and personal images, a style that allows him to adapt to any environment, formal or informal. With an emphasis on spontaneity and the immersion of his camera within an event, creating memorable images while preserving a scene's natural setting has always been Martin’s primary focus.
He has served as juror for PBS KVIE’S Art Auction photography category, and has volunteered as an on-camera Art Expert for the auction’s photography category for the last ten years. Martin has also served as a presenter in the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences EMMY Awards, where he has been an active member for over twenty years.
A long-time endurance athlete residing in Sacramento California, you will most likely find Martin cycling the American River Parkway or exploring the rocky trails of California's Sierra Nevada mountains.
